Because it housed the Chemistry department, Pauling spent considerable time in this building attending classes, participating in labs, and teaching. Pauling met Ava Helen Miller, his future wife, here while teaching a class of twenty-five home economics students in early 1922.

Gamma Tau Beta Fraternity House
Pauling joined the Gamma Tau Beta fraternity in the spring of 1919 and lived at the fraternity until he graduated from O.A.C. in June 1922. This house at 31 N. 26th Street was the fraternity's location during Pauling's senior year of 1921-22. Gamma Tau Beta became the local chapter of the national fraternity Delta Upsilon in January 1922.
